No Symphony Today

All month long, the Florida Derby was a target for many runners. But there was one that was tuned and ready to make music, but just not on this day.

Beethoven has a slight leg injury. Trainer John Ward didn’t want to press the issue and chance his future.

According to the connections, he will be on the sidelines for a short period. This will also take him off of the Derby trail. Possibly…..

Owner John Oxley held his cards close to his vest, and didn’t want to tip his hand.  In the colt’s most recent start, he ran from off of the pace to finish third in the Fountain of Youth.

He has won 3/7 starts, and earned $182,413. As a $300,00 sales purchase at Keeneland, they have had plans for him all along. I wouldn’t count him out yet, and look for this lad to be back before we know he was gone. I think he was just coming into his own, and the best may lay just ahead.
