Rainy River [Free Selection]

Rain is in the forecast for Ohio. It is stretching from far South to the Great Lakes. There are plans for rain even at the Twin Spires. But, even in the rain, winners get their picture taken.

Let us take a look at River Downs 4/28 Race #8. We find our focus on the top selection of #5 Speedy Mike. He is a very solid 4-1.

This son of Vision and Verse exits a $5,000 race at Turfway Park on the poly. This is a nice angle overall to play at River Downs. Many have the option of going to Indiana to prepare for the slot laden purses, but chose to stay close to home.

Today he is in a condition $4,000 event, and sports the “drop in class” icon. He also has the 45 days off sign, and he could be coming fresh and ready. The trainer is Kathleen Lowry winning at 25%, and Otto Thorwarth handles the driving. I think you will hear a great deal from his efforts this summer.

With rain in the forecast, he is 6 for 11 in the mud. That is a big plus in his corner as he has a 57 speed rating for this day, and a 47 for his last efforts.

The middle move last out shows me he is getting ready to roll. Add in the drop in class, and the move from poly to dirt, and 4-1 looks like a gift. The last time he ran on an off track was October 24th at Hoosier Park, for a second place finish.

I really like the top tier selection, and you will want to dial up the rest of the card to find value on this day. Good things can and do happen on Tuesday.  Many stay away from early week racing, but somebody has to win and it might as well be you.

Good luck!
