Job Well Done

With the second leg of the Triple Crown in the books, we have to wonder what may have happened. Would this have been the the next Triple Crown winner? Or, would we have been disappointed?

In my opinion, no more needs to be done. She has beaten the best of the females, and the boys all came after her at Pimlico. What more needs to be proven? I am proud to have seen her roll into history and get the gold.

The Belmont is a mile and a half, and that may be just a little too much. It is a grueling race overall, and you can bet there will be rabbits and stalkers to make her run every step of “Big Sandy” on this day. I am afraid this may be a little much for the gal to handle. She is on top of her game, and if you saw her pull up right past the wire, she didn’t look like she had a walk in the park. Mine that Bird came after her, and solidified himself as the real deal. Mike Smith needed about 40 more feet, and the outcome could have been different. But, this was not the case. When the timer read 1:11.00 for the 3/4, I felt as if Calvin gave one of the best rides I have ever seen. He stole the race. He drew off, and held just enough to get the job done. It was poetry in motion, and this rider has moved his stock value through the roof.

But back to Rachel Alexandra. She has done everything anyone could expect, and then some. Put her on the shelf for some needed rest, and bring her back at Saratoga. This is just a guess from a fan who loves the game. I think she needs to get some rest. That mile and a half can break the heart of many. I want to see her come back and pick her spots, and retire a champion.

Enjoy your moment young lady, you deserve every moment in the limelight.
