On Saturday, Julien Leparoux will be riding in Florida at Calder.. There will be no beach time, or nightlife for this young man. He will blow into town, and when the day is done, he will fly out for mounts at Churchill the next day. This is the stuff from which winners are made.

It is Breeders’ Cup day for Florida-breds. There will be 12 races on tap with eight state-bred races worth a total of $1.2 million.  It should be quite the day of racing.

He has seven mounts, and it would not surprise me if he rode a handful of solid mounts. I really think this kid will be one we will be watching in the future; the way we looked at Pincay, Baeza, Shoemaker, McCarron, and many others. He is not taking his suntan lotion on this day.

A few of his mounts that catch my eye are: Race #4 – #2 Winsockie (4-1). He had three winners on the B/C weekend at Santa Anita. His first mount has a gleam to her. I really like the price, and she looks to like the turf.

Race #5 – #4 Mr. Green (5-2). This colt dropping into state-bred company and should be the lock-up answer. A beaten favorite last out, and is 6/6 ITM at Calder.

Race #6 – #7 Sweetlalabye (5-2). This one I toss in is NOT ridden by Julien. But, at 5-2 you need to lay the smackdown on this guy.

Race #7 – #3 Family Foundation (7-2). This is my play of the day. At 7-2, you should make this a focus of your day. This 2-year-old gelding by Repriced looks to relish the turf. His dam has dropped five turf winners, and has 6 starters with 6 winners, three of which are stakes winners….. His last race was against Interactif…..

This should be enough to get you started. Just compare against the other tier levels, and if you want a walk-off chalk winner for the day – play #8 Soldier’s Fortune in the 10th……
