It is that time. The sun is shining, and spring is upon…. The races are blooming and that only means one thing…. “It is post time.”

Hawthorne

Race #7 – Ill Derby – #6 – Dave in Dixie (9-2).

Jose Valdivia has the call for John Sadler, and he has been facing the best of the year. You may find a cut below that company in here, and the price is right. I like the third off a layoff move, and there is a solid pace to take a shot at down the lane.

Aqueduct

Race #7 – Bay Shore – #1 Eightyfiveinafifty (4-5).

I have waited patiently for this guy to return to the races, and even though he is the extreme chalk, Ramon Dominguez may be kicking off the $500,000 guaranteed P-4 in style.

Race #9 – The Wood Memorial – #3 Eskendereya (4-5) / #2 Awesome Act (9-2).

I am totally split between the chalky Eskendereya and A.A …. I think if the favorite runs big, the Derby co-favorite may take mucho heat at the windows in Louisville. But, the race sets up for the fast closing Awesome Act, who exits a win in the Gotham and looks to be double tough. I guess the public and bridge jumpers will be on the chalk, but I think by a whisker at the wire. Awesome Act gets it all together today. Box them up with confidence.

Keeneland

Race #9 – Ashland Stakes – #3 -Negligee (5-1).

Rajiv Maragh in the saddle for John Terranova, who team up to win very well. 1/1 at Keeneland, and take a look at the work pattern as it has been 6 days, and comes back in three. I think they have her tight and fit, and the only thing that concerns me is the short run for home. Maragh will have to be moving strong at the half, and can get the candy if all sets up with the pace.

Santa Anita

Race #6 – Santa Anita Derby – #7 Lookin at Lucky (4-5).

2/2 at SA, and this will be the Derby favorite, if the cards fall correctly. 7/7 ITM, and Gomez rode him so well in The Rebel, that it is scary. You could go on and on, but why. He looks the best, and a big day is what he is primed for. I would use him with Caracortado (Scarface) and Setsuko in exacta and trifectas. I would also be digging in the tier levels to find superfectas left on the table. I think Baffert is ready, and it is his to lose.

Good luck, and enjoy this great day of racing!
