Saratoga Racing

New York has shifted tack to Saratoga. The track know as the “Spa” is always a good area to go back in time to see racing. The rain has been around since opening day, and hopefully the weather will be getting better for Sunday.

Here are some plays that need a good look before making final decisions for your Sunday card.

Saratoga – Sunday

Race #1 – #7 Rumors of Glory (6-1)

Rajiv Maragh in the irons for John Kimmel. They hook up for a 20% win clip, and 47% ITM. 2/2 ITM lifetime, and second time off a layoff yields a 15% mark. Goes fromĀ 6f – 1 1/16th on the turf, and has a very versatile look. Her dam was a stakes winner, and bred to enjoy the green. I like the price, and the rider is getting his credit.

Race #2 – #7 Lady Maureen (3-1)

Ramon Dominguez is in the saddle, and he is up for Billy Badgett. Ramon wins 22% with sprinters, and is over 60% ITM on this type of runner. This is a nice 2-yr-old filly by Desert Way, and his mare was stakes placed. She drops a rate of 25% winners with her babies, and ran a solid 2nd time out. She chased the winner all the way around on this day. Gets the same distance as the opener, and is bound to show improvement for this effort.

Race #4 – #1 Desert Key (3-1)

J.J Castellano in the saddle for James Jerkins, and they roll at a 67% win rate and a staggering 100% ITM. NotĀ  a bad record to follow for these guys! Goes from 7 panels to 6 furlongs, and goes from Cornelio to J.J again. Worked a bullet last out before the race, and stumbled badly at the start. A clean trip yields a good effort.

Race #6 – #2 Scary Good (3-1)

Calvin Borel in the saddle for Nick Zito. They get a 50% win and a 50% ITM as a team. Blinkers are off, and that shows me the trainer is searching for answers. Mdn down to mdn claiming ranks gets a sweet 52% ITM. The dam won 33%, and after stumbling at the start last out and dueling with the winner, I see a a clean effort providing a good effort. A work over the deep Oklahoma training track is helpful, and I think Scary can put it all together today…

Good luck, and hopefully Mother Nature will be kinder in New York!
