Historic Saratoga Race Course

It is time to begin the week again, and there is nothing like a good start to get you rolling. I have a couple of runners that need a good look, and you may just want to get connected and start off your week right!

Saratoga – Monday

Race #3 – #4 Kantharos (4-5)

Here is a runner that should be used as a single for all multi-race gimmicks. Here is a two-yr-son of Lion Heart, and he was the talk of the town at Churchill this meet. He stumbled last out, and still rolled by better than nine lengths. Gomez up for Asmussen, and they hit the ball very well as a team. I think we are looking at one of the early favorites for the Derby. This may be a nice purse to nail in the $150,000 G-2 Saratoga Special. They are going 6 1/2 f, and he can do what he likes. I would look for a solid effort, and leave plenty in the tank for November.

Race #5 – #7 Gitchee Goomie (5-2)

J.J Castellano in the saddle for Dick Violette. 3rd start off a layoff, and goes from six panels to 1 1/16th. This is a New york bred race, and she loves this company. 1/1 on the weeds, and 3/4 ITM life on the turf. Castellano is a good rider on the weeds, and I would count this as good money.

Race #9 – #4 Targhee Pass (3-1)

Cornelio Velasquez in the saddle for The Giant Killer.  3/5 ITM lifetime, and this colt looks like there can be better days ahead. The change over to the turf for Jerkins looks to have been the answer. 7f back to 5 1/2, and I like the rider on the weeds. Making a plunge in company down to claiming 25k from starter $60,000. If you add all the facts up, I think you will like what you see at the end of the day.

Happy Monday, and good luck!
