Who says Friday night doesn’t have any solid racing? I know there is always some action, but at Delta, the races really start taking shape.
Delta Downs – Friday
Race #7 – $200,000 – My Trusty Cat Stakes – 7F
There is some very nice foot that can wire them tight, or can set up a stalker. I looked over the race, and I see a few jump out at me as solid plays. But, before you go to the windows, see where they fit in the tier levels. I have found hidden value, and you may do the same for the big money. #5 Flash Mash (7-2) looks to be a contender. Rosie Napravnik in the irons for Mike Stidham. They are winning at 28% together, and this filly is making her second start off of the poly track. 2/2 with victories, and the morning works look fine. Go back two works and you will see 48.3 as the best of 93 on that day. Both winning efforts, and she was the post favorite and looks to have the ability to stalk and pounce. I like her chances. I would use her with #9 Gran Lioness (4-1). Speedy filly making the turn back to 7F from 1 1/16. I see her as a closer at this distance, and Theriot is a good rider. Brett Calhoun is the trainer, and he wins 29% at the meet. Box them up, and make a nice win and place wager on both. The price will justify the move as #2 Grandacious should be a heavy favorite.
Race #9 – $250,000 – Jean Lafitte Stakes – 1 mile
#3 Decisive Moment (7-5)
This colt has faced some tough hombres. Cutting back to a flat mile, and an oval with tight turns may play into his hands. 4/5 ITM, and should be right in the mix as they run away from the gate. Kerwin Clark is the rider, and he is rolling at 20%. I see him being bet down, and you will have to string him into multi-race exotics.
I would be sure and check the tier levels, as you will always find hidden value that can be transferred to big paydays..
