I love Tampa…. The field sizes and the value is second to none. But, now when you take a good look at WinningPonies, you will find some extra handicapping nuggets that will enhance your homework. Roll your mouse over a trainer, or a rider to find out how they are doing. This is one of the sweetest innovations to date. Just think, you will be able to know how they are this meet, last meet, off a layoff, turf, with claimers and much, much more… 2011 is starting off with a boom, and you have to see it for yourself!

Tampa Bay Downs – Sunday

Race #5 – #3 Manchurian High (9-2)

Here is a nice colt that will be ridden by Daniel Centeno (23% on the turf) for trainer William Phillips (40% ITM on the weeds). Add this up, and you will find a nice runner in the top tier level. There are four races to his credit, and two of which have been over the sod. One of those events was a G-3 event, and you can toss that out. The other was a G-2 over a muddy course at Saratoga against Kantharos. Toss that as well, but he did finish 3rd by 19 lengths. The last race after shipping down to TBD from Belmont was a welcome change. He ran away with a 32k mdn win, and they are in for straight 32k today. I see Centeno getting a good trip, and scoring over his strip.

Race #9 – #2 Excessive Heat (2-1)

They are running 5f on the turf, and there is a bevy of speed. Excessive Heat catches my eye, and my go-to-guy Centeno is in the saddle. The trainer is Jamie Ness, and they are winning 33% the last 365 days together. Ness has a beaten favorite here, and he is 64% ITM with this move. 2nd off of a layoff  (59% ITM) and she is looking good. There are two very good speed ratings in effect, and I see that she can jump the hook, or stalk the lead depending on the clock. Centeno likes to be up close, and I would look for him in the mix early and get busy down the lane.
