Opening Day

KeenelandNo, not your favorite baseball team….. It is Keeneland time!  For racing fans, it is like going to the circus and riding all the rides at the amusement park. It does not get any better, and lets jump right in and fire away!

Keeneland

Race #1

#1 Gentlemans Code & 1A Everyday Dave – They are first timers trained by Wesley Ward.  He just won 5 races the other day, and he owns the 4 1/2 furlong races. Not much to handicap except a great Florida rider, and a man who targets this meet.  Lets eat the chalk in the opener, and kick it off right.

Race #5

#8 Senada

J.J Castellano and Tagg hook up, and they seem to enjoy a turf course with a little give to it.  This daughter of Pulpit runs well on every surface that says yielding, good, or soft…… I see rain in the forecast, and if you check with your weather tab on the predictions, you will see if it is time to fire on a wet turf.

Race #8

#2 Rampaige

Here is a runner who has faced Soldat, beat Wilkinson, and rolled at this distance at first asking. Motion has been on a roll as of late, and his barn is tuned like a fine instrument. At 10-1, it is worth a play. I like the odds and the trip over the oval.

Race #9

#3 – Powhatan County

Another runner who faced Soldat, but was the beaten favorite in the G-3 With Anticipation Stakes. Just beat Animal Kingdom who won the $500,000 Vinery a few weeks ago. I think he is class, and will have to bring an “A” game to beat the outside runner Pluck. I would box them in an exacta, and hope that the 10 post holds Pluck at bay. I like his chances, and first off the shelf beat a horse who is on the Derby trail.

Best of luck, and enjoy opening day !!
