There are a bevy of great stakes this weekend. This is the call-to-the post for the summertime biggies. Just when you thought they never would arrive, they come in a bushel basket. So sit back and grab your EZ Win forms and lets make this a weekend to remember!

Arlington Park

The weather is suppose to be 91 degrees, and a 30% chance of showers in the forecast. For all up to the minute forecasts you can find them on the Winning Ponies site with a bevy of great real-time information.

6th Race = The G-3 1 3/16 – Modesty Handicap – 4:41 p.m. ET

#5 = Bizzy Caroline (3-1) = Manny Cruz in the irons for McPeek, and they seem to fit well. This is her third off the layoff, and this daughter of Afleet Alex is 1 /2 ITM at the distance. With rain predicted, she may enjoy a little cut to the ground. She should be able to get the distance, and I am looking for an upclose trip. Three-off has been a great move this barn, and McPeek has been trainingher with a purpose. The last two woks were bullets, and Cruz seems to have her style in hand.

8th Race = The G-3 American Derby – 1 3/16  – 5:43 p.m. ET

#10 – Sachem Spirit (9-2) = Corey Lanerie is shipping in from Ellis Park where he has been on fire. Gets the mount for Neil Howard, and was just beaten by the favorite Silver Max. If you look at the race, you will see that he was bumped, squeezed, and went three wide. A very versatile colt by Mr. Greeley, and my only concern is the last 1/8th of a mile. Lanerie is an excellent judge of pace and can move a runner up by leaps and bounds. Been on the shelf since 5/26, and should come back to fire nicely. I am looking for a stalking trip behind Max, and the rider jumps off of Cozzetti, and Southern Parkway.  4/4 ITM lifetime, and should give a good showing today.

9th Race – The 77th Running of the G-3 Arlington Handicap – 1 1/4 – 6:14 p.m. ET

#9 – Boisterous (5-2) = Alan Garcia gets the nod for Shug McGauhey. 3rd off the layoff, and is 3/3 ITM at the distance. There is some rain in the forecast, and the dry turf sure can use this moisture. The PP’s show some solid efforts on soft going. If there is no rain dance, he can still come motoring late in the lane.  I love his last two works at Belmont and it looks like this race has been on the radar screen.

10th Race – The 81st Running of the G-3 Stars and Stripes – 1 1/2 – 6:44 p.m. ET

#6 – Suntracer (12-1) = Eddie Perez up for Chris Block. This son of Kitten’s Joy loves to close. 2nd off the shelf, and is 3/6 over the Arlington greensward. He came rolling 6 wide last out, and was bumped down the lane. A cleaner trip would be nice, and you have to love the price. Block does well in Chi-town, and he will have to step up off that last race to win. But I like the rider for Block, and the last race is better than what it looks.

Be sure to get your EZ Win forms and don’t forget that you can always change up the track condition if Mother Nature gets ugly. For me, that is always helpful, and I don’t know of any other selections that change on the click of a button with fresh selections. Best of luck, and may your winner’s be many and your photos be few!
