Free Selections / The Kentucky Oaks / Pick Four Ticket

The big weekend is upon, and Mother Nature looks like she’s going to cooperate. The first running of the Kentucky Oaks was on May 19, 1875 when Churchill Downs was known as the Louisville Jockey Club. The race was founded by Meriwether Lewis Clark, Jr. along with the Kentucky Derby. The Oaks and the Derby are the oldest continuously contested sporting events in history, and the only horse races to be held at their original site since its conception.

Race #11 – The (G-1) Kentucky Oaks – 1 1/8 – 5:49 pm ET

#4 – Rosalind (8-1) = Joel Rosario in the saddle for Ken McPeek, and this daughter of Broken Vow is the most powerful late runner in the field. She has faced some of the toughest gals around, and the faster they run the better she likes it. Two races back she was steadied, and then went on to win the (G-1) Ashland over the Keeneland poly track. She sports two works since her last race, and her connections are starting to have her figured out.

#11 – My Miss Sophia (8-1) = Javier Castellano (28%) gets the nod for Todd Pletcher (25%). They bring a lightly raced daughter of Unbridled’s Song to post, and with each effort she gets better. Her last race was an impressive win in the (G-2) Gazelle Stakes, and she’ll be keeping an eye on the chalk Untapable who is on her outside.

#13 – Untapable (4-5) = Rosie Napravnik (43%) in the irons for Steve Asmussen, and this daughter of Tapit is as tough as a nickle steak. She is 5/6 ITM lifetime, and she owns two wins over the Churchill surface. At (4-5) she has the look of a vulnerable favorite, and with 12 others to her inside she’ll have to be her best ever to win.
