Yep… It is time to watch and wager on some of the best racing that the summer has to offer. Where the surf meets the turf is a signal that summer is hitting the final furlong. So enjoy these days as they will pass by like a warm summer day.

For those who wager, I have watched in the past and this is what I have taken with me. Remember, trends do change, but you may want to watch closely.

In races going from a sprint distance to 7 panels, you will want to play speed type runners, and those who stalk just off the pace. Many trainers point towards this meet, and look for runners coming 2-3 races off the shelf. They have been prepping, and what a place to win.

For the distance races, you will want to lean more toward closers and those types that get rolling late. Don’t look for Silky Sullivan every time, but the deeper surface tends to tire out the leaders. So look for the off pace stalkers and closers to max your value.

To kick things off, I have one that needs to be taken a look at for Thursday at Del Mar.

Go to the 8th race and gander at #7 Pacific Halo. 3rd time off a layoff, blinkers back on (where the trainer wins 42%), and exits off a beaten favorite. Stretches out from 6 1/2 to 7 furlongs, and made a middle move two races back. I think this one is ripe for the picking.

But, as always check in with WinningPonies.com for the entire card. They will shed some light on this card, and should bring you back into a profitable area.
