Saratoga Racing

This week is going to be a scorcher across the country. The racing will be just as hot, and what a way to start off your week than with a few winners to either make up for any losses, or begin again for this weekend early?

Saratoga – Monday

Race #1 – #8 Spirit of Rose (5-2)

Alan Garcia in the irons for Linda Rice (38%).

5 1-2 f on the weeds is a great race to play. Linda Rice is known for being the “Queen of the Green” and can get them ready for the sprints. 6f – cutting back to 5-1/2 should be a step in the right direction, and being 6/7 lifetime shows that this daughter of City Zip may be worth the price.

Race #4 – #2 Sunday Splitsville (2-1)

Johnny Velasquez up for Todd Pletcher (26%), and goes down to a mdn 50 from the mdn sp ranks. Was heavily bet last time out, and the public support gives me reason to make the follow-up move. If you saw the last race, the rider dropped the whip at the 3/16ths pole, and there were some salty fractions. I see a better trip with a sensible time, and possibly a gate to wire effort. The best part is that there is a 2B to this runner, and two for the price of one is a bargain anywhere.

Race #8 – #5 Discreetly Mine (8-5)

This is the G-2 Amsterdam, and they will travel 6 1/2 f.

Johnny V up for Pletcher, and this runner showed brief foot in the Kentucky Derby. The G-2 event should give the son of Mineshaft a better opportunity, and the race overall is speed laden. The selling point for my bank is that he looks to have the ability to rate off the pace if necessary. This is a bonus, and makes 8-5 in the feature attractive.

Happy Monday, and good luck!
