Parx LogoPhiladelphia Park changed the signage and program cover one night, and they will never be the same again. But, a track by any other name is still Philly Park in this case. The Parx name is the casino that is located in the parking area. It doesn’t matter what you call it, but one thing is for sure. We will all be betting Parx in the future, as that is where the action will be located. But, in the meantime, let’s take down a Pick-3, and catch the Philadelphia Derby.

Race #9 – #3 Roadhog (3-1)

Kendrick Carmouche is in the saddle, and he is rolling at 25%. Blinkers on for this runner, and that adds speed and focus. Goes from a 1 1/8th to 1 mile 70….. Monmouth shipper who deserves respect, and will be our key in the P-3.

Race #10 – #5 Dubai Majesty (2-1)

Miguel Mena stays aboard, and trainer Brett Calhoun brings this runner. Fast closing son of Essence of Dubai, 3/3 ITM at the distance, and is 7/8 in 2010. Poly to the turf, and Mena looks to have her number.

Also use, #1 Rose Catherine (3-1). J.J Castellano for Pletcher. They are both excellent at what they do, and WP gave out this gal as the “play of the day” not so long ago. 3/3 at the distance, and draws the rail in this 5f turf sprint. If the pace gets hot, she can come rolling.

Race #11 – The Pennsylvania Derby (G-2) – 1-1/8 miles

Use #6 First Dude (8-5). Albarado stays up, and after seeing the Travers, he can roll this field with racing luck. 3 off the layoff, and will be the pace factor on this day.

#3 Afleet Again (12-1). Cornelio Velasquez and Robert Reid (27%). 4/4 at Parx, and after being 4 wide in the Travers, looks to be a good closer in this field.

Ticket total = $ 1 x 2 x 2 = $4 for a dollar play. Be sure to punch it out a few times, and watch First Dude win the $1 million purse. Parx is Philly, and will always be….. Just give it some time and Parx will be mentioned in the same category as Keeneland, Santa Anita, Churchill, Saratoga and many others. Welcome to the club, and may there be fat purses, and big horses in your future!

Good luck!
