The Kentucky Derby is a week away, and some are starting to hibernate with their bankrolls. But, that is only if you are allergic to money. It is time to grab your E-Z Win Forms, as Betfair Hollywood Park is celebrating their 75th Anniversary with California Gold Rush Day!

The weather forecast calls for partly sunny, and a high of 72 degrees.

Race #4 – The $250,000  BHP Melair Stakes – 1 1/16 – 5:34 p.m. ET

#3 – Doinghardtimeagain (9-5) = Rafael Bejarano gets the nod for Jerry Hollendorfer. This daughter of Minister Wild Cat exits an impressive score in the Evening Jewel. Her last race rating is a solid 54, and her composite rating off her past efforts yields a 48. She sports the “Moving Up in Class” and “Has Improved” icons. I see her stretching out with a talented rider, and she should receive a very nice stalking trip. Bejarano is one of the best riders in the nation, and I think we will see him in the winner’s circle a few times today.

Race #9 – The $300,000 BHP Snow Chief Stakes – 1 1 /8 – 8:12 p.m. ET

#4 – Omega Star (3-1) = This son of Candy Ride gets the services of Joe Talamo for the John Sheriffs barn. In the past year, they are winning at a red-hot 23% . He owns the “Moving Up in Class” icon, and this runner hung on to win a by a gutsy nose in the Echo Eddie Stakes last out. His last race rating is a crisp 48, and his composite rating is a field best 49. Drawing the rail and stretching out can be a bonus, as I see a pace dictating trip. He may be tough to wheel in if he gets loose at the top of the lane.
