This is one of the weekends where racing takes a breath. Following up the Derby can be a tough order, and this weekend can be a great opportunity to build up your bankroll again. So, sit back and grab your E-Z Win Forms, and take a look at some free selections from around the country.

Belmont

Race #1 – Starter Handicap – 1 1 /16 – 1:05 p.m. ET

#2 – Lubango (2-1) = John Velasquez is the pilot. Makes his second start off the layoff, and is 4/4 ITM at “Big Sandy.” – His style of being up close should be effective as the rain should continue, and works at Parx have been solid.

Race #9 – The (G-2) Peter Pan Stakes – 1 1/8 – 5:17 p.m. ET

#5 – Abraham (7-2) = John Velasquez up for Todd Pletcher, and they have late maturing colt on their hands. A son of Distorted Humor, and he has a versatile running style. Go back three races, and there was a sloppy-sealed track at Gulfstream. He can be up close, or take the lead.

Monmouth Park

Race #6 – Md Sp Wt – 6f – 3:25 p.m. ET

#5 – Silver Lining John (9-5) = “Jersey” Joe Bravo in the irons for Todd Pletcher. A beaten favorite last out at Gulfstream, and the barn comes back to win 38% with second time runners. Drops a few pounds, and gets the hot-hand in Jersey aboard. I look for a little make-good, and there should be some moisture in the area.

Woodbine

Race #9 – Alw $56,000 – 6f – 5:08 p.m. ET

#8 – San Nicola Thunder (2-1) = Patrick Husbands in the saddle for trainer John Cardella. Second time off the layoff, and is 6/8 ITM over the track. 1/1 at the distance, and had a nice prep last out. Six panels looks to be a good fit, and he should stalk just off the pace.

Lone Star Park

Race #7 – Md Sp Wt – 1 mile – 5:23 p.m. ET

#3 – Absotively (6-5) = Roman Chapa has the call for Danny Pish, and they are making their second start over the oval. He is a beaten favorite, and made a nice middle move for his first race back. He should have gained some extra gas for this effort, and he finally gets his picture taken.

There is a bevy of good racing all around the country, and as some tracks are opening their doors for the season. Winning Ponies can be there to assist with a proven track record. These plays are ones that stick out as “Power Plays,” and you need to examine your E-Z Win Forms to complete your gimmicks for maximum value. Best of luck, and this time next week we’ll dialĀ up Pimlico as Orb goes for round two in the Triple Crown!
