As the ghosts and goblins fly away for another year the best weekend in racing is upon us. Let’s take a first look at the races on Friday and start making plans. We’re going to glance at runners before the post draw and who looks good and why. Be sure to download the Winning Ponies E-Z Win Forms this week as we always bring our “A” game to the table for our handicappers. Best of luck from Winning Ponies!

Friday / Del Mar

Juvenile Turf Sprint

Armor = If you have a liking for runners who come from rolling out of the clouds, you may have landed on a runner who fits your ticket. He does very well at 5f and shows a blistering turn of late speed turning for home. He cuts back in distance and has been knocking heads with some of the European tough guys.

Juvenile Fillies

JuJu’s Map = is a daughter of Liam’s Map who exits a perfect trip in the G1 Alcibiades negotiating the short stretch of the 1 1/16 distance, and this race has become a good prep race leading to the BC. Brad Cox trainee and he’s become the “next trainer to follow” the past few years. He spots his runners well and she looks to be sitting on a big race. Like the sharp work on 10/22 at CD. – Don’t discount Sequist and Echo Zulu.

Juvenile Filles Turf

Pizza Blanca = The U.S. fillies do very well in this race and had a big effort in the G1 Natalma which has served as a good prep for this event. She has been off for 47 days and comes in fresh and ready.

Juvenile

Corniche = This son of Quality Road is 2/2 and hails from the Bob Baffert barn and looks to be a close-up stalker and his dam Wasted Tears has 5 starters with 5 winners to her credit.

Juvenile Turf

Albahr = Hails from the Charlie Applebee yard; he, John Gosden, and Aiden O’Brien have won 8 of the last 14 events. Winner of the G1 Summer Stakes which is a great prep and has a strong late punch. His dam Falls of Lora (IRE) has 4 starters, 4 winners, and 4 turf winners to her credit.

Juvenile Turf

Albahr (Still like him no matter which race he ends up in)

Dakota Gold = is a perfect 2/2 and exits a super effort in the NowNowNow Stakes at Monmouth. Danny Gargan is the trainer and sports a bullet work at Saratoga on the yielding turf.
