The weather has informed us that summer has arrived. With the Belmont cancel on Thursday, and sweltering temps around the nation, I find myself asking when the first day of fall will arrive…. So, stay cool and keep your eyes peeled as there is some great weekend racing coming your way.

Race #10 = The G-1 Mother Goose Stakes – 1 1/16 – 5:47 p.m. ET

#2 = Contested (7-5) = J.J Castellano up for Bob Baffert. Impressive score in the G-1 Acorn, and I like the win over the course. A Ghostzapper filly should have no problem with the distance, but she will have to bring her “A” game against the Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can. I think she is rolling into a strong cycle, and the rider makes few mistakes. Rounding out the trifecta should be Disposablepleasure who was in-close last out, and had to alter her plans a bit.

Betfair Hollywood Park

Race #8 = The 69th running of the Hollywood Oaks – 1 1/16 – 7:40 p.m. ET

#1 – Willa B. Awesome (7-2) = Martin Pedroza up for Walter Solis, and this daughter of Awesome Gambler may make the task tough for the others. 4/4 ITM over the synthetic, and a bullet work on June 7. I am looking for a hot pace, and this should not bother her at all.

Woodbine

Race #7 = The 110th running of the King Edward Stakes – 1 mile on the turf – 3:21 p.m. ET

#6 – Trend (5-2) = Julien Leparoux aboard for Mark Frostad. 5/7 ITM at Woodbine, and 10/13 on the weeds. Cuts back from 1 1/8 to 1 mile, and should be closing stoutly. His last effort in the G-2 Dixie was a very bad trip, and needs a little racing luck today.

Race #10 = The 153rd running of the $1,000,000 Queen’s Plate Stakes – 1 1/4 – 5:36 p.m. ET

#7 – Golden Ridge (6-1) = Luis Contreras for Mark Casse (20%). 1/1 at Woodbine, and the son of Distorted Humor likes to close like the wind. He beat older foes last out, and comes back to this level. The bullet work gives me confidence, and he will definitely make things interesting.
