Betfair Hollywood Park
Race #7 – Mdn Sp Wt – 7f – 6:34 p.m. ET – ***** BEGINS $250,000 PICK-FOUR *****
#9 – Flashback (5-2) = Leparoux in the saddle for Bob Baffert, and this is a 2-yr-old son of Tapit. Been working very sweetly in the morning, and Baffert wins 26% with firsters. Gets first lasix, and the barn is winning at 34% at the meet.
#4 – Appealing Tale (7-2) = Joe Talamo has the call for Peter Miller. This son of Tale of the Cat should relish the synthetic, and was off slow in his first start. He came flying late, and Talamo gets the nod. The extra furlong should help his causes down the lane.
Race #8 – $38,000 Starter Allowance – 6f on the turf – 7:04 p.m. ET
#9 – Coyote Road (5-1) = Gryder aboard today, and the way this son of Moscow Ballet finished in his debut gives me confidence.
#7 – Rock Off (5-2) = Martin Pedroza is the pilot for Julio Canani, and make his third off the layoff move. 6/11 life ITM on the weeds, and should make a middle move before the turn.
#5 – Me Likey Mikey (5-1) = Tyler Baze for Mike Puype, and this gelding scored at first asking for mdn claimers. Big jump today, but I think he will will cover his own.
#2 – Klisz (12-1) = Mike “Money-Man” Smith in the irons for Mike Ewing. Closed stoutly at the speed favoring Keeneland, and worked a bullet over the track. There is no way he’ll be 12-1.
Race #9 – The G-1 Hollywood Starlet – 1 1/16 – 7:34 p.m. ET
#6 – Executiveprivilege (6-5) = Mike Smith up for Bob Baffert. Blinkers on today, and that may help keep her focused after drifting out a bit in the B/C Juvenile Fillies. She has the credentials to be tough, and 4/4 with wins over the synthetic. She is 2/2 at Hollywood Park, and Smith will get her best if she brings the heat.
Race #10 – Mdn Sp Wt – 6f on the turf – 8:04 p.m. ET
#1 – Thunder’s Rollin (5-1)
#5 – Grand Giant (5-1)
#7 – Raven’s Honor (6-1)
#9 – Will True Up (9-2)
#10 – Say Ow (7-2)
Ticket cost = 2 X 4 X 1 X 5 = $40 for a $1 ticket, and $20 for a 50-cent version.
