Girl Power

On Saturday, you will get to see two of the best gals the game has to offer. They will not face each other just yet, but it is like a championship fight. It is only a matter of time before it happens.

Until that time, you need to dial up WinningPonies.com and hook up with New York and California.

In New York, you have a shot at a guaranteed Pick-4 for $350,000. The best part is that this can be a P-3. Rachel Alexandra is running in the $300,000 Mother Goose, and it looks like as close to a lock as you can get. Things do happen, but with a little racing luck, this gal should roll with ease. To me, she looks unbeatable on this day. She is also the top tier selection, and sports a 54 speed rating with a 60 rating for her last three. The 1 1/8th distance looks to fit her much better.

Lets go West…. It is Zenyatta that will hook ‘em and cook ‘em in the G-1 Vanity. Mike Smith is the rider for John Sheriffs, and she is looking to go 11/11 in her career. I think you should also focus on the multi-race gimmicks to make this a smaller stretch for the money.

So there you have it. Plenty of great racing, and it is not even Breeders’ Cup Day. Be sure to be loaded before you pull the trigger, and WinningPonies is ready and waiting.

The turf course may be very soft this weekend at New York. This little tidbit may be just what the doctor ordered for a sweet victory. Last week, we caught a 3-4 shot sleeping at the wheel over the soft going. Let’s go for two-in-a row.

Go to Race #9 at Belmont on Saturday. It is the G-2 New York Stakes, and it offers a bit of value to be had.

#3 Criticism is the 5-2 favorite. This mare has lost some of her races when the green gets wet. After watching the races yesterday, it is hard to believe that the turf course will be dry without a magic wand.

With that being said, you may want to take a look at a couple of runners that may offer a run for your money. Go to #5 Backseat Rhythm. If you look at her PP’s, she has run very well over yielding and good courses. She is 3/4 at Belmont ITM, and is cutting back in distance which is always a good thing.

How about #6 Dynaforce? She is 2/2 ITM at Belmont, and her dam has dropped 10 turf winners from 12 starters. Now, that is good shootin’. Second time off of a layoff is a nice angle, and made a middle move as a beaten favorite last out. Add all of this up, and she is a player.

I would advise downloading the entire card to max out your gimmicks. WinningPonies has been on fire, and the trend should continue. Just take a look at the predictions, and remember that you can update the turf rating, if the card has a new track condition.

The Eagle Flies On Friday [Free Selection]

It’s not to early to look at the Belmont card for Friday. Just think of it as studying for an exam early.

Kick it off in the opener. They are traveling 7f on the Widener course. The runner in question is #4 For Free. He has the services of Ramon Dominguez, who is a 23% winner on the weeds and 56% ITM. These are solid numbers for a rider. They team up to 22% the last 60 days together.

The mare – Frio Town has 2 turf winners to her credit. She also has 5 starters with 4 winners and 1 stakes winner. Now, that is pretty solid.

This gal runs well off of the shelf, and should enjoy the distance on this day. To make the race more lucrative, you may want to to look at #2 Mindbender. She is 5-1, and Jose Lezcano is aboard for Allen Jerkins. They work well together winning 33%. She shortens up from a mile distance and should relish 7f. Her dam has 6 starters, and 6 winners….

So, there you have it. Download the WinningPonies selections and get ready for the weekend.  It is always good to plan ahead, and having your data in hand puts you ahead of the game.

Cleveland Rocks! [Free Selection]

Mondays usually don’t offer a great deal of tracks to play. There is some turf racing, and for the most part it is hard level claimers. But the good thing is that they offer value.

Lets take a look at Race #3 at Thistledown. Go to #3 Flying Peak who is 4-1. He is 11/19 ITM lifetime, and has a 57 speed rating and a 52 for the last three efforts. The 57 has been on an upward swing from 43 – 47, and capped out at a nice 57 last out. This can very easily climb again after this race.

He has the services of Luis Martinez Jr. and trainer Randy Faulkner, who is winning at 29%. He has a consistent look about him, and seems to enjoy the Cleveland surface. The jock switch back to Martinez is a positive sign. Take a gander at the “Has improved” icon, and your confidence begins to grow.

I would box him up with the other top tier runner #2 Sailfin who is 5-2 on the morning line. He sports a 57 speed rating, and is trained by red-hot trainer Jamie Ness who is getting his picture taken at a 69% clip.

So, if you like top tier runners who may offer value, this is a good place to start. He is 2/2 with wins at TDN, and you will want to download the entire card to cap on the multi-race exotics.

Just because the weekend is over doesn’t mean your bankroll should lay asleep until Saturday. Lets keep things rolling, and be sure to keep WinningPonies close in hand.

Good luck!

My Place

I have talked about playing parlays. Particularly place parlays. I have a friend who said he would have a 12 race parlay that would begin on Friday and end on Sunday. His bankroll was $50, and the best part, he is still alive with two plays left.

He has made ten plays up to this point, and he has $2,883.26 from a $50 investment. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. But, this guy is sharp and he does keep his plan no matter what.

So, on Sunday his roll is at stake. I have to say that I may have called it quits with the investment / return at this point. But this guy is one of the only folks I know who has focus and determination at the track. If he said it would have been three bets, he would have stopped. But, it is a staggering 12 wagers.

I guess by now you want to know where his last two wagers are going to take place. Here is his plan win or lose. In Race #2 at Arlington he likes #4 Rahoo. The parlay finishes out with a dead-chalk in the 4th Race at Hollywood with #6 Indian Blessing.

I guess wagers like this can make your knees weak. But, for the “Railbird” he sees it as his $50 original wagering dollars allotted. He stands to make it a good weekend. I tried not to pry too much into his plan, but this was one that caught my interest. So, if you are combing through the results on Sunday night take a look at these two final plays. I sure hope he takes it down…..

The Price Of Poker [Free Selection]

by Horstradamus

posted on June 14, 2009 in Free Picks and Tips, Other Events | No Comments >>

It has been raining in the Big Apple. If Noah hasn’t built an Ark, he may want to start! The best part is that on Sunday, there is a G-3 turf event called the Poker Stakes.

Head to Race #8 at Belmont and take a gander at a top tier runner with a price attached. Look at #1, Sailor’s Cap at 10-1.  This is a tidy field of six, and there is a 4-5 favorite named Kip Deville, who looks tough to beat.

Let’s examine the race. Sailor’s Cap is a top tier runner, and has a 35.3 turf rating, and has a 58 speed rating for the day and a 53 for the last three efforts.  These numbers are only the beginning, and they don’t lie.

Garcia has been making a big name for himself. He sports a “Monster Workout” icon at 1:13.2 for 6 panels with the (d) dogs up. This means he was out and away from the rail and had to cover more ground. The “dogs” are cones that protect the inside running area from rutting. He ran 196 days ago, and will come back well rested after exiting the Hollywood Derby on 5/2/09.

The most attractive thing about this runner is that he enjoys soft courses. In the Colonial Turf Cup, it was a soft course and he relished the give to the weeds. He went on to win by seven lengths that day.

This 6-year-old by Kipling is 7/9 ITM on the turf, and showers are expected for the day in New York.  But, you can cash in bigger if you download your data and stretch out a bit.

Don’t forget to take a look at the chalk Kip Deville. He is 4-5, and looks every part of it. He enjoys all surfaces, and his record and bankroll speak volumes. He has a 54.9 turf rating, and that is white hot!

So, prepare to shuffle em’ up as the Poker can be an excellent source of action for this Sunday. Just don’t leave home without your data for the entire card.

Good luck!

Plan Ahead [Free Selection]

Saturday is just a few days off. You will have time to read up, listen to the Internet show, and download your data for the weekend. But before you kick things into overdrive, here is one that needs a look when you get your data in hand.

On Saturday, take a look at Belmont. There is a a runner by the name of Nowhere to Hide taking to the track. He is #4 in the 9th race set to run at 5:17 E.S.T.

They are running in the allowance ranks of 46,000 / non-winners of two lifetime. This runner put in his efforts for a small race called the Kentucky Derby last out. So, this is like dropping off of the edge of a cliff as far as class is concerned.

Eibar Coa is in the saddle for trainer Nick Zito. They are winning 14% and 19% respectively. His last four efforts have been in the: Risen Star, Tampa Derby, Illinois Derby, and the Kentucky Derby. Not bad company to be keeping.

He worked a bullet over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga. This place is known for being a deep and tiring course, and he worked a 35.4 for three panels to be the best of 54 works at that distance for the day.

He ships in from Louisville, and Zito wins 18% with his shippers. Add in the 4/5 in the money record in 2008, and this drop in class looks like the plan for the day.

So, here it is. You have a little peak for the weekend and plenty of time to use WinningPonies to roll the multi-race exotics. Be sure to bet with your head and not over it, and start thinking weekend on Thursday.

Good luck!

A Million Reasons [Free Selection]

by Horstradamus

Plain and simple I am going to take my shot at the Belmont $1 million Pick-4. I love the big days, and this could be an excellent chance to cash in on some big value. Be sure to download your data from WinningPonies.com, and give it your best try to find your way to the I.R.S window. Here is my attempt:

Race 8 – (1A) Everyday Heroes, (2) This Ones For Phil, (6) Hello Broadway

Race 9 – (4) Funny Moon, (8) JustWhistleDixie, (9) Four Gifts

Race 10 – (1) Court Vision, (5) Gio Ponti, (2) Champs Elysees

Race 11 -  I finish out with Belmont 141 with the following: (6) Charitable Man, (7) Mine That Bird, (8) Flying Private, (4) Summer Bird

Everyone can jump on board with whoever they feel is solid. I am following the Belmont selections from W/P, but you may use it in a whole different way. I saw a sloppy quagmire today, and I am looking for a good track on the big day. I know they can do wonders with the track in a day, and on my W/P form, I changed the condition to something other than fast. That is the one of the best features of W/P over the competition. Some sheets give out selections and hope they can predict both the weather and the race. But now you are in control…

The ticket that I have put together will cost $108. But that is my shot at a big ticket. You may be able to pull it off with a smaller wager, or you may want to stretch out with some second and third tier runners. These are the ones who pay boxcars.

It is all up to you. I am ready to take my shot, and roll over my winnings into a sweet opportunity. It is your call, and all you have to do is begin your day with WinningPonies. Go ahead and take a look. I think you will be surprised at the possibilities.

Enjoy the Belmont, and best of luck!

Rain Apple [Free Selection]

by Horstradamus

posted on June 3, 2009 in Free Picks and Tips | 4 Comments >>

If you believe the weather report, then rain and more rain is heading to New York. Belmont should and will take races off of the turf, and the main track may be a quagmire. That is, if  Mr. Weatherman is on target…

Head on over to Race #6 on Wednesday and take a look #3 Client Eight. He is 8-5, and is a son of Tapit. His speed ratings are solid at a 48+ for this race and a 46 for the last three efforts. Those are pretty good against this company.

His record is 3 starts = 0-1-2. He sports the “should improve” icon and has “blinkers on.” Add in the “drop in class” notation, and we have a sweet player. WinningPonies has been ON FIRE, and we expect the run to continue through this great weekend of action.

John Velasquez has the call for trainer Mike Hushion. They are winning at 22% and 42% respectively. This is quite a tandem to cash a nice ticket. He drops in class from Mdn Sp Wt to Mdn 50k. This is a drop that warrants a hard look before firing away.

So, what to do? Download your data, and prepare for the weekend with a little dance in the rain. You can always update the form if you think the track condition is going to change. Now that is something I have never seen with any other products on the market. It makes it kinda’ nice to be able to change up.  Sometimes change can be good……

Best of luck!

Tuesday At The River [Free Selection]

by Horstradamus

posted on May 31, 2009 in Free Picks and Tips | 1 Comment >>

I know, Tuesday is a few days away. But lucky you, we are peeking ahead to who will be running on the card that day. You will want to pull down the entire WinningPonies card to make the day a big winner.

Kick it off in Race #1 at River Downs with #6 Busha. This son of Mercer Mill is ridden by Perry Outzs, and he is winning at 25% at the River. The trainer Mike Rone is rolling at 20% to the winner’s circle. They have teamed up the last 60 days to win 25% and 67% ITM. Not bad at all.

He ran a nice second to DP The Facilitator, owned by Rick Pitino and Dick Vitale. He won by 3 1/4 lengths on 5/19, and this colt should have the lead to dictate the pace.

He stretches out from 4 1/2 f to 5 panels, and is 9-5. As of the first two at River Downs on Sunday, Perry Outzs had ridden the double, and looks like he is hitting on all cylinders. The dam of this runner is winning with 40% of her two-year-olds, and thrown 5 winners from 7 starters.

She was no match last out, but this time may be different. Get all you want and bet early and often. I think if you use your W/P data on this day, it may be a nice way to kick off the week.

Good luck!
