There is mucho action happening in New York. Bettors from all walks are prepared for this weekend, but just in case you forgot. There is one of the best cards on the left coast taking place until Breeders’ Cup. With that being said, there is nothing like a little inspiration to get you grabbing up your E-Z Win Forms and locking down the card. So sit back, and start your handicapping engine as this Saturday brings the heat!

Santa Anita

Race #4 – Mdn Sp Wt – 6 1/2f – 5:37 p.m. ET

#8 – Kristo (9-5) = Rafael Bejarano in the irons for John Sadler. A beaten favorite last out, and the barn comes back to score at a 21% clip. This is the second race lifetime for the son of Distorted Humor, and makes the poly-dirt switch. The works have been solid at Santa Anita, and I see good things happening today.

Race #5 – The G-1 Chandelier Stakes – 1 1/16 – 6:09 p.m. ET

#7 – Secret Compass (12-1) = Rosie Napravnik in the saddle for Bob Baffert. Baffert has three in here, and the old rule of thumb was to skip the chalk and shoot for the price. Well, that is who I liked anyway and the old rule made me smile with confidence. A nice daughter of Discreet Cat, and makes the poly to dirt transfer. The race sets up for a good closer, and her works at S.A. have been solid. Rosie knows how to finish, and this is a $425,000 sales purchase.

Race #6 – The G-1 Rodeo Drive Stakes – 1 1/4 on the turf – 6:40 p.m. ET

#7 – Marketing Mix (7-5) = Gary Stevens and Thomas Proctor hook up in here, and they make the third start off the shelf. Two back she beat the boys, and the Arlington effort last out looks to be a race to forget. 2/2 ITM at Santa Anita, and 4/5 ITM going this far. She won this race last year after being beaten in the Beverly D, and if you look at this year it could be deja vue all over again.

Race #9 – The G-1 Zenyatta – 1 1/16 – 8:15 p.m. ET

#6 – Authenticity (5-2) = Martin Garcia and Todd Pletcher go to post with this daughter of Quiet American. She is cutting back in distance, and makes the 3rd off the layoff run. She is 4/4 ITM going this long with three wins. Garcia is a very capable rider, and Pletcher did not come this far for the beach. She appears to be able to sit just off the pace and stomp clear about the 1/4 pole.
