Problem Ponies – Horses to Watch – 12/6/16

Nothing like a little something to keep your inner-handicapper warm and happy on the cold blustery days. – Trip handicapping is one of the oldest forms of handicapping, and can be traced back to the late-great Pittsburgh Phil. – Here are some runners who had a tough trip,  bad beginning, or could use a hard look before hitting the windows next time they run.

Aqueduct

12/3/16

Race #1 – #2 – Really Big Bird – First time starter who scored easily in the late stages. – He should be on the play right back list.

Race  #2 – #6 Karma Delight – First timer for the Chad Brown barn. Originally scheduled for the turf, but he was flying late in the lane to be second. – They may be heading to Florida, and if they do you’ll want to keep your eyes on him.

Race#5 – #4 – Monte Man – He made a winner’s move around the 3/8th’s but came up a little leg weary to finish third.

Fair Grounds

12/3/16

Race#1 – #1 – Lucky Summer – She was making a solid move and was squeezed back at the 1/2 mile pole.

Race #2 – #5 – Purple Piano – Hawthorne invader hopped at the start and she tried to make a move but was out of gas finishing 4th.

Race# 5 -#1 – Boom Bam Bing – Keeneland invader for the Karl Broberg barn. She was making up good ground and lugged out a bit around the far turn. You can bet the barn will have her ready to fire next out.

Tampa Bay Downs

12/3/16

Race #3 – #3 – Renne’s Cat – She was closing stoutly against the rail and forced to check at the 4 furlong pole.

Race #4 – Su Su’s Kitten – First timer who was flying from way back for the Chad Stewart barn.

Race #5 – #4 – Venus Serena – She was the beaten favorite who was forced to check for the Eoin Harty barn.

Turfway Park

12/3/16

Race #1 – #4 – Latin Wild Cat – Speedster who caught an ultra fast track all weekend and his speed will carry once the cold sweep begins.

Race #3 – #1 – Aziforecast – Bumped at the start and the speedster never was able to vie for the lead.

Race #4 – #4 – Cape Caroline – Chased the wire-to-wire winner that gave Jon Court his 4,000 winner. She was the beaten chalk this day and will be tough next out.
