Kentucky Downs

Race#1 – #7 – Telephone Talker = Mike Maker trainee with Irad Ortiz is a solid play in the opener. Maker is winning at 17% for the meet and when he teams up with Ortiz they score at 23%. – This colt is bred to relish the turf as his dam Kathern’s Kitten has 4 starters, 3 winners, and 2 turf winners. He’s a closer and will have a very long stretch to do his bidding.

Race#3 – #3 – Epicurean = First-time starter for Wesley Ward who is winning at a 27% win clip at the meet. Irad Ortiz wins 18% with first-timers and 25% when he teams up with Ward. She is bred to love the green and Ward is sitting on full-wide-open the next two days.

Race #4 – #8 – Jades Gelly = Wesley Ward trainee with the red-hot hand of Gerardo Corrales in the irons who is scorching the meet winning 22%. – She ships in from Saratoga and New York runners have done well at the 5-day meet.

Race#7 – #4 – Hay Dakota = Hails from the Maker barn with Jose Ortiz in the saddle. He was a beaten favorite last out at CD and was fanned five wide. I’m looking for a much better trip with Ortiz who scores at a 30% win clip with Maker.

Race #9 – #3 – Mrs. Sippy = Goes to post for Graham Motion and Joel Rosario. This is her 2nd start of the year as this closer should enjoy the added distance and the long stretch. Rosario wins 18% with closers.

Race#10 – #3 – Red Ghost = Enters for Wesley Ward shipping in from Saratoga. They took her only race off the turf and she drew off to win by eight widening lengths. She is regally bred for the sod and will relish the deep course and long stretch. Jose Ortiz in the irons and he will jump to the front and not look back. Ortiz wins 18% with speedsters on the weeds.
