Kentucky racing is giving you a double-dip of Thoroughbred action. Normally Turfway Park would be running in the September, but now the dates have shifted to Churchill Downs. Add in the undulating European turf racing at Kentucky Downs and you have a bluegrass festival. Winning Ponies has your back, and here is a glimpse of what the E-Z Win Forms have to say about this incredible day of racing.

Churchill Downs

The weather calls for 80 degrees and clear.

Race #6 – The G-2 Pocahontas – 1 1/16 – 8:30 p.m. ET

#3 – Milam (3-1) = B.J. Hernandez in the saddle for Eddie Kenneally. Impressive maiden win at Churchill, and owns the “Monster Workout and Moving up in Class” icons. This daughter of Street Sense sports a 54 for a Last Race Rating and the Composite Rating. She gets the acid test by stretching out from 6f, and if the last race is any indicator. I would see her settling in right behind the speed and locking horns down the lane.

Race #8 – The G-3 Locust Grove – 1 1/16 – 9:39 p.m. ET

#4 – Flashy American (5-2) = Corey Lanerie in the saddle for Ken McPeek. She brings the “Has Improved and Moving up in Class” icons. Her Last Race Rating is 58, and her Composite figure is a solid 52. Cutting back from 1 1/8 after a nice win at Saratoga, and has relished the CD oval in the past.

Kentucky Downs

The forecast calls for 85 degrees and sunny.

Race #2 – Alw $94,000 – 1 mile on the turf – 3:05 p.m. ET

#11 – Tater Downs (4-1) = Rosie Napravnik in the irons for Mike Maker. He has the “Moving up in Class” icon, and his Last Race Rating is a 66, and a Composite Rating 63. The Turf Class Rating is a crisp 15.9, and that is a field best number.

Race #9 – Kentucky Downs Marathon -1 5/16 – 6:35 p.m. ET

#3 – Mystical Star (3-1) = Brice Blanc up for Christophe Clement. Her Last Race Rating is a 63, and the Composite figure is 61. This daughter of Ghostzapper has faced better in her past, and looks to be heading for an upswing in her efforts. I think she will be forwardly placed in the field and wait patiently to get busy down the long stretch.

September is going to be an exciting time in Kentucky. With daily purses of over $900,000 a day at KyD, and $407,000 at CD. I think we can count on some big name riders and trainers hanging around. Before making wager number one, grab up your E-Z Win Forms and get ready for action. We will be ready for the races, and we re just a click away from all of your favorite racing. Best of luck from your friends at Winning Ponies this weekend!
